An international business research centre for programme management has been launched today by Cranfield School of Management in the UK and EDS, the technology services company.

The International Centre for Programme Management is based at Cranfield and will develop initiatives and expertise in programme and project management.

With large-scale change programmes in both the public and private sectors becoming increasingly complex, new tools and techniques are needed to accomodate these challenges.

”There is a major opportunity through this new centre to bring together practical expertise from across the globe to enable organisations to deliver ’world class’ programme management,” says Michael Osbaldeston, director of Cranfield.

“There’s a lot of new knowledge being created out there and very few people have the theory and the framework basis to be able to pull that together and build on it.

“We want to be in the forefront of that knowledge creation process.”

Prof Osbaldeston says that the rigorous research and practical application delivered by the centre will help influence the direction of programme management.
