It’s Ireland v France in the final round to host Europe’s banking regulator.

Paris and Dublin have emerged as the two cities who will be fighting it out to host the European Banking Agency after it moves from London following Brexit.

Frankfurt, long seen as a natural choice for the agency, was knocked out of a complex voting process taking place in Brussels tonight.

Dublin has taken a slight lead with 13 votes compared to 10 for Paris going into the final vote. Earlier today, Amsterdam won the contest to host the EU’s medicines agency, with ministers forced to pick a name from a hat after the Dutch city tied with Milan.
