Power dressing: McKeel Hagerty

McKeel Hagerty, 43, is chief executive of Hagerty, a family-run business that is the largest insurer of classic and collector cars and publishes Hagerty magazine.

Jacket by Isaia

I started wearing Isaia suits and sports coats a number of years ago because they were a trimmer cut that fit my body type without being ridiculously slender. My challenge with working in the car world is that one day I’m in a suit and another I’m in jeans. Often times, I blend both but I always need to dress my age. If you come overdressed to a car event in the Midwest or even LA, people are going to be sceptical.

Shirt by Ascot Chang

I discovered these shirts on a trip to Hong Kong seven years ago. As for ties, I let my location dictate whether I wear one or not.

Shoes by Michael Toschi

They have the price tag of a supercar shoe but they’re absolutely the only shoes I wear.

Jeans by 7 For All Mankind

When you’re standing around a great collection of cars, you can have a regular guy and a billionaire standing next to each other but they’re all there to have fun – and jeans are what make guys comfortable.

Watch by Chopard

I’m a modest collector. This one, the Mille Miglia 2011 Competitor, is my favourite because the only way you can get it is if you participate in the Mille Miglia [race].
