If you spent the 1930s listening to WEX, a superpower of a Mexico City AM radio station audible across large parts of the US, these songs will be immediately familiar.
Even if not, there is much to enjoy in Cascada de Flores’s recreation, from the mock station idents to the bolero and danzon – including a Mexification of Rodgers and Hart’s “With A Song in My Heart”, as well as reclaiming for history some more folkloric material.
