Mariinsky Ballet, Royal Opera House, London
This feast continues for another week. Today you have last chances to see the fascinating double bill of two Balanchine ballets: Apollo and the two-act A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The matinee brings the opportunity of seeing the admirable English recruit Xander Parish as Apollo; the evening offers the no-less-splendid Uliana Lopatkina as Titania. On Monday and Tuesday there is a triple bill of Fokine’s The Firebird, Ashton’s Marguerite and Armand, and Ratmansky’s Concerto DSCH to a Shostakovich score. And for the rest of the week, until next Saturday, when this visit ends, two full-length ballets: the Mariinsky’s lustrous Swan Lake – radiant classicism and the apotheosis of the czardas and mazurka in the ballroom act.
On Wednesday, the fine Viktoria Tereshkina takes the double role in the arms of the noble Vladimir Shklyarov. The season ends with three performances of Ratmansky’s setting of Prokofiev’s brilliant score for Cinderella on Friday evening and Saturday (with, on the second evening, Nadezhda Batoeva partnered by Vladimir Shklyarov, an ideal prince).

Solo For Two, Coliseum, London
Tonight offers a final opportunity to see Natalya Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev in this quaintly named programme at the London Coliseum. Three recent choreographies – by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Ohad Naharin and Arthur Pita – are designed to explore the talents of these notable dancers in a manner different from their usual classical offerings. Baroque music, electronics, fado, and these very popular artists, are the matter of the evening.
