This week, Martin Wolf, chief economics commentator, joins the Work and Careers team to discuss his choice of book to bring solace and advice to readers in turbulent times: Between Debt and the Devil by Adair Turner. You can listen to the podcast here or by clicking on the link in the box below.

Martin sets out why this analysis of the imperfections of the financial system is among definitive texts for students of recent economic history. Turner argues that the cause of the financial meltdown a decade ago was not that banks were too big to fail, but an addiction to debt.

Joining Martin are Andrew Hill, management editor and columnist, and Work and Careers editor Helen Barrett.

Look out for future episodes to mark the FT’s Business Book of the Year award. Our next edition on July 10 will feature Sarah O’Connor, employment correspondent, on her choice of book: Working by Studs Terkel.
