I agree with Warren Buffett that his role as chief decision maker for a public company is to search for moats protecting above-market returns for his shareholders (“Buffett parts company with the moralisers”, December 30). I hope he agrees with me that his role as a citizen is to support government programmes to destroy the moats as part of our collective effort to create a healthier, more competitive and productive society. Perhaps the FT could do a follow-on piece to learn his thoughts on this issue.
