Andreea Cristea, a 31-year-old architect from Romania who fell into the river following last month’s terrorist attack on Westminster Bridge, has died.

Her death brings the number of innocent people killed in the attack to five.

Ms Cristea was rescued from the Thames by police but suffered critical injuries and underwent brain surgery.

Scotland Yard said Ms Cristea had been receiving treatment in hospital but life support was withdrawn on Thursday afternoon.

She had been on holiday with her boyfriend, Andrei Burnaz, who suffered a broken foot in the attack and had planned to propose to her later that day.
