Prepare to join a board

Harvey Nash and the University of Hong Kong are now accepting applications for the second intake of their women directorship programme. The programme is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to demonstrate they are ready for the responsibilities of the boardroom as a director or non-executive director. The programme will run over six days in February and March 2014.

The Wharton school at the University of Pennsylvania is hosting an open house for MBA candidates at its San Francisco campus with Columbia Business School, Harvard, Stanford and the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. The session will address the specific interests of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Additionally, the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, MIT Sloan School of Management, UCLA Anderson School of Management and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business will join the open house for a school fair.

IMD Business School is hosting a conference on frugal innovations in Tokyo, encouraging multinational companies in developed economies to look to emerging economies for ways to do more for less while serving broader markets. The event will examine a wide range of frugal innovations and analyse the key building blocks. It will also take place on Thursday 12th September in Singapore.

Rotman School of Management, Canada invites Alan Iny, senior specialist for creativity and scenarios at The Boston Consulting Group, to give a presentation titled Thinking in New Boxes: A New Paradigm for Business Creativity, based on his new book. Following this talk, Brian Sheehan, associate professor of advertising at Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University, will speak about how the world’s top marketeers make emotional connections to win in the marketplace.
