Brent crude eyes longest winning streak in eight months

Oil prices are slightly firmer in Asian trade, with Brent eyeing its longest winning streak since last August.

Oil prices were edging higher on Monday after solid gains last week. Brent crude was up 0.1 per cent at $55.27 a barrel.

That puts the international oil benchmark on track for its sixth day of gains in a row, which would equal a streak previously seen in mid-August last year.

West Texas Intermediate was up 0.2 per cent at $52.34.

Gains today for both Brent and WTI would mark their ninth gain in 10 sessions.
