Your editorial “ China’s Belt and Road Initiative is falling short” (July 30) makes some valid points about the importance of inclusiveness and transparency.

However, I would argue that if only 32 per cent by value of all BRI projects since 2013 have run into “trouble”, that’s actually not too bad. Compare that performance against just two UK infrastructure projects: High Speed 2 and a third runway at Heathrow. Suddenly it looks like Belt and Road is doing remarkably well!
