Sir, In her insightful commentary “ Trump is stirring memories of Nixon and Watergate” (February 18), Elizabeth Drew speculates about one way the Trump presidency could end prematurely: “his overweening pride notwithstanding, [Donald] Trump himself decides that the presidency is not so wonderful after all”.

That got me to thinking of another way that would address the pride issue: we thank him for his (ahem) wonderful service thus far, and pay him to leave office using a sliding scale: the sooner he leaves, the larger the payout.
