From Mr Peter Kruger.
Sir, What Andre Geim is describing in his article “Be afraid, be very afraid, of the world’s tech crisis” (February 6) is the well-established cycle, certainly within the IT sector, that sees new ideas periodically run ahead of new applications. Rather than look to the skies and hope for a potential asteroid strike to drive innovation, we should think about the demographic time bomb ticking away under our feet.
This is about to explode not in 50 years but during the coming decade. Perhaps Prof Geim should start working on medical applications for graphene.
