Where is my future?” Bl’ast vocalist Clifford Dinsmore roars. The year is 1987; he and his bandmates are part of a booming US hardcore scene, younger contemporaries of their idols Black Flag. Blood! captures them at their peak.
A remixed version of their album It’s in My Blood!, it’s based on a newly discovered master tape whose restoration has been overseen by celebrity fan Dave Grohl. The sound is punchy and vibrant, a relentless but perfectly timed barrage of riffs and drums, while Dinsmore rasps about impending doom as though recorded yesterday, not 26 years ago.
The future hasn’t turned out so badly after all.
