Letter: Does Beijing ever heed opinion in Taiwan?

The spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy (“One-China principle has international support”, Letters, September 11) contends that Taiwan being part of China has international support. Does she understand there is little support for this position among the people that matter, the Taiwanese? They have made this amply clear in several free and fair elections, a concept foreign to the totalitarian government she represents.
