The FT has launched a weekly haiku/senryu contest.

This week’s topic is: Balancing work and life.

The next deadline to submit poems to workplace.haiku@ft.com is Wednesday October 1 and the winning pieces will be published in this section on October 9.

Poets can submit poems every week. But please do not submit more than 10 poems a week.

The haiku or senryu must be your own work and previously unpublished. For further competition guidelines click here.

Jim Kacian, our guest judge, is poring over the many entries we received for last week’s contest. The winners will be published in this section on October 2.

Mr Kacian is a co-founder of the World Haiku Association, as well as owner of Red Moon Press and editor of the journal Frogpond. He has written five books of haiku.
