Vice Media has completed a $450m investment with TPG, the private equity group, that values the youth-focused company at $5.7bn.

The company said it would use the investment to produce scripted programming that complements the news, documentary and reality series that it distributes around the world.

Shane Smith, Vice’s chief executive, said the new funds would help the company “build up the largest millennial video library in the world”.
