This is only Thompson’s third album since 1985, and like all the rest has been well worth the wait.

This is a family affair – ex-husband Richard on the opening track, daughter Kami singing lead on a McGarrigle cover while grandson Zak plays guitar; son Teddy songwriting and playing guitar throughout.

Linda herself remains a peerless interpreter of songs, whether her own dark fables or, in one case, Charles Causley’s.
