James Farm: James Farm

James Farm

James Farm

James Farm might sound like a slice of Bill Frisell’s Americana, but is actually a collaborative quartet featuring saxophonist Joshua Redman with pianist Aaron Parks and drummer Eric Harland in the rhythm section – the title references the birthplace of the James Brothers of Western legend.

The vibe is distinctly urban, though more alt-rock than street. The song-form structures are simple with tuneful themes and grungy beats, but once stated, they morph into the contemporary complexities of story-telling linear jazz.
