On Drone Logic Daniel Avery looks back at a classic era for dance music albums, the 1990s heyday of the Chemical Brothers and Underworld. Crafted as an album rather than an assortment of dance floor-fillers, the tracks flow easily into one another with subtle variations in tone.
It gets off to a cracking start with “Water Jump”, all acid-house squelches and booming bassline, before moving fluidly into sleek techno and late-night mood music, ending with the pulsing optimism of “Knowing We’ll Be Here”.
