Sir, Stella Hughes (Letters, September 23) claims xenophobia and prejudice would loom large in England were there to be a vote on EU membership, whereas such base sentiments, so she claims, were entirely absent in Scotland’s recent referendum.
Yet Ms Hughes provides zero evidence for her statement. She thus seems to be motivated by a xenophobic and prejudicial dislike of the English. I would like to thank Ms Hughes for so eloquently hoisting herself by her own petard.
