Jack Reacher – DVD review

Christopher McQuarrie, 2012
Paramount ★★★☆☆

Jack Reacher is a film without sense or moral compass. The dialogue is sparse and the violence otiose. With Werner Herzog as a villain who has chewed off his fingers in a Siberian prison, and lines from military cop turned vigilante Tom Cruise like “I mean to beat you to death, and drink your blood from a boot”, it’s hopelessly braindead and irresistibly exciting – “art for art’s sake” in the truest sense.
