The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters

This book was originally released as a limited-edition weekly, like Victorian “penny dreadfuls”, and the story is an ironic homage to 19th-century pulp-fiction magazines.
A young woman travels to a remote manor to discover why her fiance has broken off their engagement. Briefly a guest at an erotic masked ball of a secret society, she is debunked as an intruder and escapes. She begins to investigate, allies herself with a contract killer and a doctor, and uncovers a cabal for world domination.
Absurd? Certainly. But Dahlquist tells the tale with playful imagination. Although he could have skipped some of the fight scenes, The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters is an entertaining read.
