Allan Cohen, professor of global leadership, is to take over as dean of the Olin school at Babson College following the decision by Mark Rice to step down from the job.

Professor Cohen, 69, a specialist in global leadership and entrepreneurship, has initially been appointed on an interim basis.

He recently completed seven years as vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty at Babson and includes in his curriculum vitae the fact that he helped found the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. He was awarded both an MBA and a DBA from Harvard.

Babson is the latest of a series of top business schools to appoint more mature deans. Both Harvard and Wharton now have deans who are in their sixties.
