Glen Whyte is to quit the Rotman school at the University of Toronto, in Canada, to become dean of the business school at Simon Fraser University, in Vancouver.

Prof Whyte, a professor of organisational behaviour and human resource management, and a former associate dean at Rotman, will take up his new job on January 1, 2008.

Prof Whyte is an expert in negotiation, decision-making, dispute resolution and risk management and has extensive consulting experience in private and public-sector companies. Prof Whyte has taught at the University of Toronto since 1989 and served as executive director of the MBA programme from 1995 to 1998.

A lawyer by initial training, Prof Whyte holds an MBA from the University of Toronto and MA, MPhil and PhD degrees in organisational behaviour from Yale University.

He will succeed acting dean Carolyne Smart.
