A Borussia Dortmund football player was injured after three explosions next to the team bus as it travelled to a Champions League match against AS Monaco.

Dortmund police said one of the blasts occurred shortly after 7pm local time, in Dortmund-Höchsten, a southern suburb of the city. Police later tweeted that there were a total of three explosions next to the team bus.

They said that the bus’s windows had shattered and one person was injured.

“We cannot say yet what caused the blast and what exactly exploded,” the police said in a statement.

Borussia Dortmund is one of Germany’s top teams, with regular appearances in the Champions League.

The football club tweeted that the match with Monaco was cancelled and would be held instead on April 12.
