There’s no big hair in Nashville these days: just big money, big business – cut-throat music business, that is – and a big saga that swirls around the lives of two competing country music divas (Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere as good queen/bad queen). Storylines span political corruption, confused sexuality, ambitious young talents, addiction, breakdown, uncertain parentage and more. Add in plenty of music, some of it surprisingly good (listen up for the remarkable voice of Clare Bowen) to complete the successful recipe for this series. The second season sees the plotlines worked up a notch and a few of the duller characters canned – even via a spot of murder. And yes, there are still cowboy hats.
