US President Donald Trump on Monday named Lt General HR McMaster as his national security adviser, after Michael Flynn stepped down from the role last week.

Mr Trump announced the decision to the press who had gathered in Florida, saying that General McMaster is “a man of tremendous talent and tremendous experience.”

General McMaster is career Army official.
