Seventeen years after splitting up, Kitchens of Distinction are back – cue rejoicing among fans of obscure early-1990s UK indie rock. There’ll be more rejoicing among that select grouping at how good Folly is. “Extravagance” is a marvellous blend of swirling guitars, driving rhythms and Patrick Fitzgerald’s dramatic intonations while the singer’s lyricism is to the fore on “Japan to Jupiter”, a nostalgic look back at self-discovery in the Bowie-obsessed 1970s.
