The Zero Theorem - DVD cover

Terry Gilliam, 2013

Stage 6 Films

Qohen Leth is a computer genius living in an Orwellian future. He is tasked by the omnipresent “Management” of evil corporate giant ManCom to solve the “Zero Theorem” – that all life is meaningless – despite constant intrusions from a femme fatale and his boss’s teenage son. The world of Leth has the sci-fi aesthetic and dystopian themes (man against state; isolation amid mass-interconnectivity) but lacks the wit of Gilliam’s earlier Brazil; this film feels like a creaky reprise of a well-worn subject.
