Secrets and lies? This Canadian family documentary, a collage of old videos and stills with present-day interviews, verges on the Bergmanesque.

An extended family is in pursuit of the elusive, vivacious, died-young Diana, wife of two, mother of four, lover of ... well, that’s the nub of the mystery. As the film-maker, Diana’s daughter, seeks her real father she unearths some dark griefs, as well as truths about how families create their cherished narratives. It’s mesmerising at times, but doesn’t quite sustain its length.
