Matt Malley, formerly bass player for Counting Crows, shares the billing with the Indian guitar master VM Bhatt, but this is really the latter’s album.

After a facile opening, Bhatt plays slow Mohan Veena, his own variant on a slide guitar with the multiple resonances of a sitar, moving through a series of slow melodies. Malley shines, though, on “Languid With Longing”, as his synthesiser, sounding like the most fragile hollow bubble imaginable, takes over Bhatt’s melody and toys with it over a gentle patter of tabla.
