After admired albums devoted to Chopin, Liszt and Mozart, the Polish-Canadian pianist turns to two of Schubert’s more upbeat sonatas. She brings a Lied-like expression to the music, making it sound more romantic than classical – not everyone’s taste, but it’s hard to resist her sparkling fingerwork in the A major sonata’s finale or the G major’s Minuet.
