While banking and consultancies remain the traditional employers of MBAs, the internet search engine Google is now high on the employer wishlist for many students graduating from business schools in the coming months.
According to the 2006 Universum Survey, American MBA edition, Google is now ranked as the 2nd (up from 129th last year) most desirable place to work by MBAs – McKinsey remains top. Five thousand MBA students at 43 US schools took part in the survey looking at career and salary expectations and ideal employers.
Yahoo has also seen its popularity rise with MBAs and moves up to 26nd position. Number three is Goldman Sachs with consultancy Bain and Co at four and the Boston Consulting Group at five.
