The Shanghai business school Ceibs has been awarded more than €10m from the European Union to help introduce European business knowledge and practices to China.

Ceibs, which was set up with financing from the European Union and the Municipal Government of Shanghai in 1994, will also receive substantial further funding from the municipal government.

The Europe-China Business Management Training Project will involve, among other things, providing education to disadvantaged individuals, groups and regions in China (especially the Western provinces); education for women; and a pilot PhD programme.

Rolf Cremer, dean of Ceibs, says the project endorses Ceibs’ position as “the platform for further advancement of business education and research in China”.

During 2008 Ceibs will expand its facilities on all three of its campuses, in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen, and will launch its own publishing house..
