Famous last words, perhaps, but in early trading, it doesn’t look like today will be the day for German Bund yields to hit zero, after a good run at it last week.

The benchmark 10-year bond yield is now at around 0.0179 per cent, just below the 0.02 mark it recovered to late afternoon on Friday. (Low yields reflect high prices.)

Yields fell as low as 0.008 per cent on Friday amid a global rally of sovereign bonds, with yields in the UK and Japan hitting fresh lows too.
