Shares in FirstGroup are up early trading on Monday, after it was announced it and a partner have won the contract to run the South-Western rail franchise.FirstGroup will operate the route alongside Hong Kong’s MTR, having beaten incumbent Stagecoach Group, who has run it for over twenty years.

Shares rose 2 per cent to 125.5p

FirstGroup already operates the Great Western franchise to Wales and the west of England, Trans Pennine Express and Hull Trains.
