Erasmus University in the Netherlands has appointed Steef van de Velde as the new dean of the Rotterdam School of Management. Prof van de Velde has been interim dean of the school since July, replacing George Yip, who now works at Ceibs in Shanghai.
Although RSM is highly-regarded as a research-based business school, Prof van de Velde says he will continue to ensure the impact and relevance of the research done at the school.
Prof van de Velde, a professor of operations management and technology, holds an MSc in econometrics from Erasmus University and a PhD in mathematics and computer science from Eindhoven University of Technology. Prof Van de Velde has also been a programme director at Klict, a Netherlands institute that conducts research on networks, logistics & ICT; a founding editor of the Journal of Scheduling; and the scientific director at Dinalog, the Dutch Institute for Advanced Logistics.
