John Taylor: Requiem for a Dreamer

A seven-composition suite inspired by the work of Kurt Vonnegut

John Taylor

Requiem for a Dreamer

The title track’s pensive opening and plangent soprano sax set the scene for this seven-composition suite inspired by the work of Kurt Vonnegut. Taylor’s multi-faceted piano voicings are permeated by emotional ambiguity and an underlying sense of unease, amplified by empathetic support from drummer Martin France and Palle Danielsson’s unhurried double bass.

Compositions veer from floating dreamscapes to the bustle and scurry of a cat-and-mouse chase, with Julian Argüelles a lyrical lead on tenor and soprano sax.
