Sir, Mark Campbell-Roddis (Letters, September 12) gives some perfectly rational examples of measures taken by Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling to mitigate the effects of the downturn in 2008, but fails to acknowledge the centre stage role Mr Brown in particular played in creating the mess in the first place.
