Patti Waldmeir

Shanghai Correspondent

Patti Waldmeir is the Shanghai correspondent of the Financial Times. She was previously US Editor, US legal columnist, South Africa correspondent and a Lex columnist. She writes about China by focusing on the quirky stories behind the headlines – and using them to poke gentle fun at a society that is seldom moved to laugh at itself.

Patti wrote her first article for the FT in 1981, as a freelancer, and she has worked for the FT exclusively since 1984 in Africa, America, the UK and Asia.
