Yale SOM admits IMD to its global business school network

IMD in Switzerland has become the latest business school to join Yale SOM’s Global Network for Advanced Management.

IMD is the 23rd school to join the network, which was set up at the end of 2011 with Insead and NUS in Singapore as founder members. Today the network includes the London School of Economics in the UK, Fudan and Renmin in China, IIM-Bangalore in India and the University of Cape Town.

IMD president Dominique Turpin says the agenda of the network “fits perfectly with our [IMD’s] practical, global perspective. Its agenda is particularly relevant for us.”

The aim of the network is to bring together schools from both developed and developing countries to jointly create teaching materials and even degrees. Yale runs a Master of Advanced Management for top MBA graduates from the 23 partner schools. Applications for the programme have doubled this year, according to Yale.

On the teaching front, the schools are working together to develop case studies. One such case already published was written jointly by professors from NUS and Yale and addresses the environmental and business impact of Indonesian palm oil production. The case will be taught to NUS’s MBA students this year and has been used by the Aspen Institute for its Business and Society International MBA Case Competition.
