An animated graphic (click on ‘view larger’ to see it glow) for the FT’s special report on Global Brands is a first for advertising-supported in-depth supplements which first appeared in the 1930s. The two papers that were merged in 1945 to form the Financial Times produced two such surveys on China within six months of each other in 1932.This animated image was produced by Greg and Zennor Meeson, freelance illustrators for FT reports, as the department is now known.
