What is FT Video?

FT Video is a service on FT.com where you can watch recorded interviews with business leaders and CEO's, commentary from expert journalists on global news stories and the market situation, as well as featured special reports.

What technical set up do I require for viewing FT Video?

The video streaming itself works through progressive download. In order to work properly the video player on FT.com requires Adobe Flash Player version 8 or higher. A full list of browsers which support the player can be located from the following URL:

In order for optimum video performance users must have a bandwidth of at least 400.00 kilobits per second. If your bandwidth is lower than 400.00 per second then they may see degraded video performance in terms of audio and visual.

How much does the service cost?

Watching our video in the main video player is free, and you do not have to be registered or subscribed in order to view it. However, the embedded players found on article pages are subject to the normal registration rules, so in order to take full advantage of the mini-player content, you will have to be either registered or subscribed.

How do I search for videos?

FT videos can only be searched for using the video search function rather than the main FT.com search function.

I am searching for an FT Video but it doesnt appear in the list of search results?

You must use the search box found in the main video player to locate videos not as they are not loaded into the general FT.com search archive.

I am trying to send a friend a link to one of your videos but the link I send him does not bring up the correct video

You will notice that the individual videos for each video channel do not have a unique URL in the browser bar. To send a URL for a specific video, please use the ' get link' function found in the main video player.

How do I sign up for the video RSS feeds?

Click on 'Get our RSS feed' to open up a new window where you will be shown our full list of RSS feeds. The video section is half way down the page. Please note that video RSS updates every 3 hours rather than every 15mins like our other RSS feeds.

What are FT podcasts?

Podcasts are audio files which can be downloaded and played back on PCs and portable media players. FT.com publishes regular podcasts on its Arts, Digital Business and FT Money Show sections as well as the Martin Wolf and Lucy Kellaway FT Newspaper columns read by the authors. FT Podcasts are available from the Video & Audio section of FT.com at http://www.ft.com/podcast

How can I select a podcast?

Click on the arrow below the 'SELECT YOUR PODCAST' heading. A drop down menu will appear from which you can select a podcast topic. Click on a podcast topic and use the drop down menu under 'SELECT YOUR SHOW' to choose a publication date.

How can I play back a selected podcast?

Once a podcast is selected, click on the play button on the Podcast Player at the top of the page to play it back.

How can I download a podcast?

You can download a podcast episode using compatible podcast software such as iTunes. From the iTunes STORE, click on the heading 'Podcasts' from the main menu. From the CATEGORIES menu select Business, then from the Featured Providers menu select 'Financial Times'. Click on the podcast title and choose 'GET EPISODE' to download the podcast.

How can I subscribe to a podcast?

You can also subscribe to an FT.com Podcast through compatible podcast software. From iTunes, follow the instructions above but from the ''Financial Times' menu, click on 'SUBSCRIBE' to subscribe to your chosen podcast. iTunes will automatically download the most recent and all future podcasts on your selected topic. Alternatively, copy and paste the podcast RSS address into your podcast reader.
