World affairs

Joined UN in 1957

Good relations with the West, which provides the bulk of Ghana's military and development aid, are a priority. Ghana has played a significant part in UN peacekeeping operations. It has also been the main contributor, after Nigeria, to ECOMOG, the ECOWAS peacekeeping forces, in war-torn Liberia and Ivory Coast. Ghana maintains good relations with its French-speaking neighbors, despite periods of strain with Togo.

World ranking

Schooling, educational attainment, and human development rankings are based on the UN Human Development Index (which covers 172 countries and Hong Kong).
