The US Supreme Court dealt the Bush administration a significant blow on Thursday by ruling that detainees at Guantánamo Bay could challenge their detention using US civilian courts.

In a landmark 5-4 decision, the court ruled that the Bush administration could not deny detainees the constitutional right of habeas corpus.
