HIV treatment plea for asylum rejects

Rejected asylum seekers should not be required to pay for HIV treatment nor be sent back to countries that cannot offer access to medicines, the Commons international development committee will argue today.

In a report on HIV in marginalised groups to coincide with World Aids Day, the committee criticised the government for rejecting previous recommendations and claiming it had to balance the needs of people who are HIV positive with a strong immigration system.
