EU proposes team to align asylum policy

A team of dedicated asylum experts is set to be created to assist those European Union countries most exposed to large flows of ­asylum seekers, following a proposal by the European Commission on Wednesday.

Coastal countries such as Malta and Greece will receive assistance from a new agency, the European asylum support office, which will aim to ensure potential refugees are treated consistently in all parts of the bloc.
