Rolls-Royce, the aero-engine maker, has appointed Lawrie Haynes, former chief executive of British Nuclear Group, to help spearhead its push into Britain’s resurgent nuclear market.
The appointment of Mr Haynes, who is well known in the nuclear industry, is the latest sign of the company’s ambition to leverage its skills in the nuclear market. The company, which powers Britain’s fleet of nuclear submarines, announced last July it was creating a new business unit to focus on opportunities in the global civil nuclear market, which it estimated could be worth £50bn a year in 15 years’ time.
