India has renewed its call for the extradition of the head of the Tamil Tigers, the Sri Lankan rebel movement, to put him on trial for the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, the country's former prime minister.
After the fall of the Tigers' jungle stronghold of Kilinochchi in the north, India's ruling Congress party said it was seeking the extradition of Veluppillai Prabhakaran as Sri Lankan troops continued their offensive.
